Generating Cash Through Dividends

When you’re new to investing in stocks and shares, there is a lot of information to take in! With all the investment language to try and make sense of (what’s confirmation matching and trade allocation? I hear you despair!) Things can start to overwhelm… but no need to panic.  Take a few moments to know the basics on how to make money from your shares and stocks and you will be fine.

  • A share of stock – what is it?

Simply put, a share of stock gives you a proportion ownership in a firm – you’re buying a part of an establishment. Firms typically first sell shares in their businesses so that they can generate funds for projects and expansions. When you buy a share it will be worth whatever the worth of the amount of your ‘slice’, or ‘pieces if you have more than a single share, is/are worth in connection with the worth of the business as a whole.

  • Generating cash via Increased Share Price

With adjustments in the financial system in addition to the success of the company you have invested in, hopefully, your shares will multiply in worth. When this comes about, it is the point to think of trading your stocks and make income in the form of profit, or keep them should they rise further!

  • Generating cash in the form of Dividends

When you own a proportion of a company you may entitled to a proportion of the profits that the company makes – this is called a dividend. If you own a large amount of shares in one company you could enjoy some impressive dividends. It’s up to you whether to use the money to buy more shares or go out and enjoy it on something else!

  • Handy hint – Inspect your stock shares regularly!

The stock market can fluctuate broadly and the worth of shares and stocks can rise and go down quickly due to variations in the economy! Make certain you check on your stocks so that you can see all prospects to get a big profit or to sell up before you make a shortfall.

  • The IT systems used

When you buy or sell shares or stocks, then they must correspond.  Stock exchanges utilize reconciliation software for this.  It is just like when you calculate and adjust your tally in your personal cheque book to match your bank statement.  It will track shares sold, shares bought, fees and exceptions.
